Men and Women for Others
Service is a core tenant of Saint Louis University’s mission. Since its founding in 1818, the University community has worked to alleviate ignorance, poverty, injustice and hunger, and has extended compassionate care to the ill and needy.
200 years later, and that commitment to service still stands central to what it means to be a Billiken. It’s why more than 80 courses on the St. Louis campus have service learning built into their curriculum. It’s why our alumni, students, faculty and staff, and friends provided more than 1.7 million hours of community service this past year. And it’s why SLU was recently ranked no. 1 in the nation for a university most engaged in community service.
Service doesn’t happen without support, however. As we celebrate 200 years of Saint Louis University today, we invite you to honor the University’s legacy of service by making a gift to one of its many worthy service organizations. This year, the service fund that raises the most money on SLU Giving Day will receive an extra $500 to further their mission.
